Vintage Sex Pistols Memorabilia Sold at Auction
A former punk rocker from the North East of England has parted with his beloved collection of Sex Pistols memorabilia, after almost forty years of avid collecting.
BBC News Tyne and Wear, is reporting that the ex spiky top was just a fourteen year old teenager, when he first heard the not so dulcet tones of the most controversial rock band ever to get a strangle hold on the throat of popular music.
The Sex Pistols spawned only one album and a handful of hit records in their brief, highly eventful career but their legacy and influence had a major impact on the music industry and popular culture as a whole, that has not been limited to just the latter part of the sensational 70’s.
The most hated band in Britain are now a national institution and original Pistol’s posters can change hands for thousands of pounds, while their hard to find vinyl releases can cost the record collector, on average almost £700 per disc.
The massive hoard of memorabilia that was recently auctioned, included framed punk shirts designed by Vivien Westwood, promotional tour posters, vinyl singles and LP’s, back-stage passes and numerous autographed pieces of punk nostalgia.
